The day after Christmas, all of my cousins, aunts, and uncles flock to Dallas for a weekend of holiday cheer at Grandmary and Papa J's house. Annually, on the evening of December 26th, we gather in the kitchen to recite the cross-stitched prayer that hangs on the blue plaid wallpaper...
"We thank thee Lord for happy hearts,
for rain and sunny weather,
We thank thee Lord for this our food,
and that we are together"
...before filling our plates with delicious fare and fighting over the burnt part of the mac 'n cheese. The older we get, the more we spread out, so this year, we took some family photos to document all of us being in the same place before we assumed our regular spots to open presents chronologically from youngest to oldest.
